Launch of Classic Car Tours
The launch of Classic Car Tours took place at Blythswood Square on the 27th October. The event was attended by His Grace the Duke Of Argyll, who proposed a toast to the new company. Guests enjoyed a Champagne reception, sponsored by Laurent Perrier, and canapes in the rally bar ahead of a presentation on CCT tours for 2012.
Prior to the event, CCT arranged delivery of an AC Cobra into the Blythswood Square reception area as part of the celebrations.

The launch of travel company, Classic Car Tours, offers a new way for classic car owners and enthusiasts to combine the history and heritage of Scotland and France with the enjoyment of stunning hand selected roads and destinations. Classic Car Tours was officially launched at Blythswood Square in Glasgow. The brainchild of former drinks company executive, Bill Telford, also a classic car owner, boasts an extensive network allowing the company to operate luxury escorted tours in Scotland and France to the most exciting venues for all classic car enthusiasts.
He said: ‘I have been a classic car owner for 12 years and absolutely love touring and experiencing some of the less well-known routes and destinations both in Scotland and in France. I’m very much looking forward to introducing these to our clients.
‘It is my own experience of touring that has convinced me to launch Classic Car Tours. I believe that the programme we’ve been able to create will showcase, for instance, why the participants in the iconic Monte Carlo Rally enjoy starting from Glasgow or why the top of the Rest and Be Thankful is a perfect picnic location.
Our French tours are based very much around the equally famous Le Mans 24 Hour event and we’ve found some unique destinations which will complement the routes and that will stand out in our clients’ memories.
‘With more than 400,000 historic vehicles registered in the UK, historic vehicle related activity is worth over £3 billion to the UK economy annually.* By starting some of our tours in Scotland we hope that more of that spend will be seen here. ‘Working closely with our destination partners, including Inveraray Castle and Chateaux de Dobert in Avoise, France we are able to offer some of the most attractive destinations alongside competitive pricing.’
The company’s signature Scottish tour will include a visit to Inveraray Castle owned by His Grace the Duke of Argyll.
He proposed the toast to the success of the new travel company:‘The brand Argyll has long had strong connections in the world of vintage and classic cars. Today we are excited to be part of this new venture by encouraging more people to spend time enjoying our beautiful scenery and spectacular roads. I look forward to welcoming all of you to Inveraray Castle over the coming years’.
CCT Becomes member of Scottish Association of Car Clubs
We are please to anounce that Classic Car Tours is now a member of the Scottish Association of Car Clubs. We look forward to working closely with SACC for advice and input into our tours, plus keeping CCT updated on any future developments on the Scottish scene.
CCT Is Recognised by MSA
We are absolutely delighted that CCT is now a Motor Sports Association recognised club.
The MSA is the regulating body for all motor sports in the UK and a member of the FIA.
All of our UK events will be run under MSA rules and permit, reasuring participants that all CCT organised events comply with MSA regulations.
Having had recent meetings with the event coordinator, final details for this tour are now in place. This event will give participants a real feel for what the "Monte" entrants will go through, whilst also sampling some outstanding Glasgow hotels, restaurants and Scottish hospitality. The Glasgow Monte start location has now been moved from Blythswood Square to the new venue of Clydebank College. More details to follow on the new start location as we get them.
Numbers for this tour are limited to 20 period correct sports or rally cars (or their replicas) manufactured between 1955 and 1980.

Dragon's Den Theo
Glasgow-based Classic Car Tours has received recognition from Dragon’s Den’s Theo Paphitis within seventy two hours of launch!
The company was launched at Blythswood Square, Glasgow on Thursday 27th October following which Bill’s partner Julie Wengenroth sent a tweet to the Dragon’s Small Business Sunday Awards asking him to consider Classic Car Tours as ‘one to watch’.
Essentially, every Sunday between 5pm and 7.30pm, Theo Paphitis (@TheoPaphitis) invites small business owners to send him a tweet to promote their business. The conditions of entry are
•Tweets must be sent between 5pm and 7.30pm on Sundays only
•Tweets must be sent to @TheoPaphitis
•Tweets must include the hashtag #sbs
Julie tweeted – CCT_Ecosse - Fulfill your driving passion, luxury escorted classic and sports car tours, Scotland and France, superb hotels chataux scenic routes.
After the 7.30pm deadine Theo personally looks through all the tweets he has been sent and chooses his six favourite entries. His chosen six receive a re-tweet (RT) from Theo which is seen by his 184k followers.
On Sunday 30th October, Classic Car Tours was one of six from more than 1000 submissions. Bill is obviously thrilled! He said: ‘Launching Classic Car Tours has very much been a team and family effort, Julie has worked alongside me on this project from the outset. She’s keen on social media and therefore took the first opportunity after our formal launch last week to get in touch with Theo. We know that many small businesses can wait weeks or even months for recognition, to receive a retweet so quickly is incredible. I’m obviously delighted that Julie did this for me.‘The feedback we’ve received in the 24 hours since Theo sent his tweet has been fantastic and the traffic to our website has also noticeable increased. ’Julie added: ‘It’s well known that Theo loves his classic cars and by using our 100 characters carefully I managed to get over all the elements that made our tweet stand out, as a result he visited our website. It really has helped get our business off to a great start.’
